FAQs

Q: What do I need to bring on the day? Read answer

Players should wear old, comfortable clothing and may also want to bring a change of clothes for the conclusion of the game. We strongly recommend boots with ankle support and deep tread/rubber soles – it can get a bit slippery in the woodlands! Some players may choose to wear wellies if it is muddy during the winter months – but it is up to each individual to decide if they want to choose a waterproof option rather than the safety of ankle support. Paintball gloves are available to buy at the centre, or you can bring your own. You may also want to bring some money for purchasing additional paintballs (we accept cash and credit/debit cards verified by PIN only. Please note: fees apply to the use of credit and debit cards).

Q: Can I bring my own paintball equipment? Read answer

You can bring certain items of your own equipment to the centre, but it is always at the discretion of the Centre Manager whether you can use it. You can bring your own goggles, provided they are designed for paintball games and have not been modified in any way. You can bring your own paintball gun, but you will only be able to use it if you have arranged a private game and only if it can operate from a Manchester Paintball gas bottle. The use is at the discretion of the Centre Manager, and the gun will be subjected to a chronograph test. We do NOT allow any customers’ own gas cylinders at any of our paintball centres.

Q: Can I bring my own paintballs? Read answer

For health and safety reasons, and to maintain a consistent safety standard across all centres, you can only use paintballs issued by Manchester Paintball on the day of your event.

Q: How many paintballs will I need? Read answer

There is no way of knowing how many paintballs any individual will use, as it depends on how trigger happy you are! It is entirely up to each person how many paintballs they want to use. The average use across the entire the company (by kids and adults) is 400-500 paintballs per person per day. You can purchase paintballs at the centre throughout the day, during the breaks between games.

Q: How can I purchase additional items on the day? Read answer

Additional items such as paintballs, lunch, gloves and paintball grenades (for players aged 18+ years) can be purchased from the basecamp shop with cash or card (verified by PIN only). Please note we do not accept payment on site by cheque. The following fees apply when purchasing items on site:

Q: Is paintball suitable for children? Read answer

We believe paintball is safe for kids, but ultimately the parents must learn about paintball and decide for themselves whether their child is hardy and mature enough to participate. To help you with this, we have compiled an ‘Information for Parents’ guide, which can be included in your information pack or requested from our friendly staff by calling 0843 178 2470*. Please also see the FAQ concerning ‘Minimum Age’ below for more information.

Q: What is the minimum age? Read answer

For regular paintball the minimum age is 10 years old and for mini paintball the minimum age is 8. The equipment and level of supervision provided by Manchester Paintball makes paintball safe for any age of player – so it’s not the ‘danger’ involved that determines our age limit – rather the fact that the equipment is quite heavy, and it can be daunting for very young children. Some 10 year olds might find it too much as well, so if you are in any doubt please pre book a tour of one of our centres on a weekend and have a look for yourself – the Centre Manager would be delighted to arrange this for you. Our insurance is not limited by age – people of all ages are fully insured. Please note our Manchester Paintball Centre offers mini paintball for 8-10 year olds, so if your child is younger, you may wish to choose this event. Please speak to one of our event coordinators to find out more.

Q: What food and drink is available at the centre? Read answer

Free tea and coffee is provided all day at our Manchester Paintball Centres. We also provide hot and fresh 9″ personal pizzas for lunch. The pizzas cost £4.99 and must be ordered before 11:30am. Lunch can be added to all our kids packages for only £2.99 extra when making a booking. Everyone who would like a pizza will be asked on the day to specify either Margherita (cheese and tomato – the vegetarian option) or Pepperoni (the meat option). Adult players will also be asked to decide whether or not they wish to order a pizza by 11:30am on the day of their event – this is to give the chefs in the pizza shops time to prepare and deliver their creations. There is also a snack shop at each centre where you can purchase pot noodles, chocolates, drinks, crisps, and more.

Q: Can we bring alcohol to the centre? Read answer

No alcohol is permitted at our paintball centres. Any players who have been drinking will be excluded from the games and asked to leave the centre.

Q: Which days are you open? Read answer

Our centres are open almost 365 days a year. We do strongly recommend booking your desired date well in advance to avoid disappointment. To check availability, please contact one of our friendly event coordinators on 0843 178 2470*.

Q: What happens on the day? Read answer

On arrival you will be greeted by our friendly staff who will check you in. After you’ve completed your registration forms you’ll be kitted up with all the gear needed for the day and attend a compulsory safety briefing. Then the action starts! You will play 12-14 varied games during a full day session, with short refreshment breaks in between to reload your paintballs and discuss tactics!

Q: Do I need to fill out a registration form? Read answer

All players are required to complete a registration form before they begin play. Players under 16 years must have their form signed by an adult; we suggest you send these out with your invitations. The other parents should return their completed registration forms for you to bring to the paintball centre on the day of the event. The Parental Consent Form can be found on our downloads page.

Q: How many players do I need to bring? Read answer

There is no minimum or maximum number of players required; any group size is fine (although we may require a minimum spend level in order to open a centre for a midweek game). You will be joined by other players on the day to make up a team. To have a private paintball game playing against members of your own group, you will need to bring a minimum of 40 players, or pay an additional fee.

Q: Will my child be playing with adults? Read answer

Where possible we will join your group with those of a similar age. However, there are often groups of mixed ages (when parents like to play with their children, or there are older siblings joining in etc.).

Q: Can I reserve a date even if I’m uncertain how many players I have? Read answer

You can make a booking now for the players that you have confirmed, therefore assuring you bag your desired game date. You can then add additional players onto your paintball booking up until a few days before your event.

Q: What do I do if I get lost trying to find the centre? Read answer

To avoid getting lost we suggest you make sure all drivers in your group print the directions from the website and take these with them. Our directions are for guidance only, we recommend using a road map or sat nav for more precise directions. If you do have trouble finding the centre, call us on 0843 178 2470* and one of our friendly staff will help you find your centre. Please note that our head office is based in Surrey and may not be aware of specific incidents in the area, such as road closures and road works. However, we will be able to put you in contact with someone who can help you further.

Q: What happens if it rains? Read answer

The paintball games go ahead regardless, in all weather conditions. All game zones are based outdoors in woodland areas, so we recommend you bring wet weather gear and sturdy boots with ankle support and deep tread. Some players may opt for the comfort of wellington boots over the safety of boots with ankle support, and it is advisable to bring a spare pair of shoes to go home in. There are sheltered areas and lockers available to hire in the basecamp where you can store your gear between games. Players may also like to wear a thin waterproof layer of clothing under the combat suit we issue you for the day.

Q: What times can we play? Read answer

A full day session is from 9:15am until approximately 4pm. We advise players to arrive by 9am.

Q: What happens if a player does not turn up on the day and I have already paid for them? Read answer

All payments are non refundable and non transferable. However, credits may be carried forward and used for a future paintball booking.

Unfortunately not. If anyone fails to attend the event on the date you have booked, the pre payment and paintballs for that person will be forfeited for the day. All payments are non refundable and non transferable, however credits can be carried forward and used for a future visit.

Q: How do I book a day of paintball? Read answer

Booking couldn’t be simpler! All you need to do is call us on 0843 178 2470* (24 hours a day, 7 days a week) and speak to one of our friendly event coordinators to check availability and book your event. Alternatively you can complete the online booking enquiry form, or email us and we will call you back at a convenient time. Another option is to drop in to your nearest centre and speak to the manager. Please note: it is essential you call in advance and make an appointment to visit your preferred centre. (1) All prices quoted are for payments made in person (at a paintball centre). Payments made this way are final and cannot be altered or amended in any way – meaning that once paid you will not be able to change the date of your booking and if any member of your party is unable to attend on the date of your booking then that payment is forfeited. Payments made over the phone to the advice centre attract a service fee of 6.99% – and mean that your booking can be changed to another date if you wish (subject to availability), that credits will be given in respect of any players failing to attend the event, and that these players may attend a game on a date of your choosing in the future without further payment (again, subject to availability).
